well, we're home. my son seems to have taken it all pretty well. nothing was shocking to us. it all pretty much confirmed what we've been thinking for a while now.
he is in the 96th percentile in intelligence overall. his memory and pattern recognition are in the 98th percentile. he is officially diagnose with Asperger's and "a learning disorder unrelated to intelligence." the doctor said he has never seen a patient score so AS on the AS/NT scale. heh. "There's no hedging around it, he certainly is AS."
so...now we wait for the paper report to be sent to us, and try to formulate his next move school-wise. i think home-schooling has benefitted him, but he does need the social interections of the upcoming 9th grade. we definitely have the grounds for an IEP for school should we need one.
i'm relieved. now he can really understand that he isnt alone. i think i have all of you on the boards to thank for that, too. he's been lurking and reading, relating to much of what he sees here.
so, thank you...just for being here.
