my name's daniela. i'm a 20 year old female studying computer science in zurich, switzerland (mother tongue german).
it's been about 5months i read something about aspergers & registered at a german forum, but there's not that much going on (which is absolutely ok), but it would be nice to get to know a few people, & this forum looks far more visited...
i'm not diagnosed, but i'm quite sure that i have aspergers. what i read ist just...describing exactly me.

well, i hope i get to know some of you a bit better...just to be able to feel that i'm not alone with this...

good evening
daniela

Hey Daniela. Welcome to the website. May you enjoy being here.
Tell me, do you have to do service with the Swiss army, or is that a guy-only thing? I know this other Swiss bloke who had to do several months of training with the army just because he's Swiss. Isn't it a regular thing, in Switzerland?
I considered joining the army once, but then my mum reckoned the clothes would be wool, so ack, I decided against it.

it's a guy-only thing (guys must do it, females may if they want). you have to serve 21 weeks plus a week repetition-course every few years until you're 50 years old...
but i think it's kinda ridiculous...it's of no use (only my personal opinion) & if you don't want to do it, you'll easily find a way out of it. for example, if you're a vegetarian, you're considered unable to service...

Hehe, yeah, it does sound pretty ridiculous. Why does Switzerland need everyone to stay current with army training and stuff? Its not like you guys are big on war. Still, would come in pretty useful for guerilla warfare, having every citizen trained. How're you finding your Computer Science course? Its a popular field amongst german-speakers, it seems. What's it called, Informatik, over there?

it's not only that everyone is trained, it's too that everybody has he's personal army-weapon at home. but most of the people don't like it. they only use it if they have to & put it away the rest of the time. in switzerland, people aren't that much fascinated about weapons (as it sometimes seems to me they are abroad) because it's nothing special. every male has to be able to use one...

btw, we don't know why we need everybody to be trained either...

yes, it's called informatik. (we tend to call it informatics while trying to speak english...hehe)
until now, i quite like it. (i'm in the third week. hehe) it's only mathematics & a bit programming, the real computer science thing starts later. after they sorted out 50% of us at the basic exams...
