If you could set things up so that your life would be exactly the way you wanted it to be, then what would your life be like?

For me, the ideal life would be living with my wife in a semi-rural area - maybe on our own farm - with our kids nearby, perhaps raising families of their own. We'd all have some form of artistic talent, as well as a technical skill (including medicine). We'd not be so wealthy as to become jaded and worthless, but not so poor that we couldn't meet our needs and have a little fun as well. Everyone would be healthy in every way, as well as intelligent, confident, and reasonably good-looking.

Not quite like "The Waltons", but similar.

How about you?

Living in a suburban house, with wife and two kids
Having a good job and no debts
Having a big garage where I can restore classic cars
Having a couple of cats + a dog

They say complicated men have simple dreams...

living 2/3rds of the way up a mountain, just below the tree line. maybe having a bed and breakfast place that was only open on weekends, so i could make a little cash. assorted live animals around (chickens, maybe a goat, cats, dog, maybe a horse). days spent doing observations of something - climate, tree ring growth, mountain erosion, something like that. time to read. rocking chair on the porch overlooking the valley, woodsmoke in the air (not the burning forest kind). having to wear a sweater in summer. something to do to keep busy when i need it - a project. restoration of something long left behind, perhaps. or research. gotta have high-speed internet. a really good shortwave set so i could pull in stations from all over. getting to go barefoot most of the time, unless it was too cold. something to keep the kid occupied, so she wouldn't go stir-crazy either.

Living in the mountains, with a husband, two dogs in the yard and two cats in the house, doing needlework, reading, surfing the net, and going for walks.

Having enough money so that I can live the rest of my life comfortably without having to work a job. I'd like to live in an area that's not to crowded, but that isn't small enough for everyone to know me, preferably in the foot-hills around Tennessee. I'd like to spend my time learning electronics, mechanics, carpentry, welding, and stuff like that at a college so that I can make and repair things myself as a hobby and for practical purposes. I'd build my own house with a beautifully huge garage and shop. I'd spend some time going on hikes and canoeing every week. And one month a year I'd travel around the country seeing the sights or something.

living with my boyfriend in a loft downtown along with the former vocalist of my ex-band and his girlfriend, working as a hairstylist and cooking for everyone when i have the time :o cause the rest of them would burn the place down... also playing in a band on the side, but not for money, for fun. i enjoy playing music along with other people, and performing and making people happy with my music :3 i dont care what kind of money im making with either my hairstyling or my music-making or anything for that matter, so long as im living comfortably and surrounded by people i like. hell, if i found a box in an alley comfortable and if my friends lived nearby, id be just as happy there XD

My ideal life-

I would be living in a nice neighborhood/ reasonable nice car/married and have 2 or 3 kids.
I would have a Vet tech degree.
I would have 2 cats plus one dog. And I would have Josie. And I would be able to travel anywhere I want at anytime.

I pretty much have a ideal life now. I have few worries.

I would have my business, which the entire family would be involved in, and it would be making money.

I would have my house paid off.

My daughter would be exploring her educational opportunities with freedom and understanding, and succeeding at same.

I would have enough resources available to take care of things, making living within our means comfortable.

I would live in a small condo down the shore, and own a reasonably sized car.

I would have a job that paid enough to cover all my bills and expenses, live a comfortable lifestyle, and indulge more in my interests. Either a job working with animals or a sorting/organizing type job requiring minimal people skills.

I would hang out on the boardwalk most weekends and go swimming in the ocean on days that it's warm enough. If I don't feel like doing that, I'll take a long walk in a quiet nature park and probably spend the whole day there.

I would live nearby to a few WP members who share my interests (not sure who those people are here), and we would hang out together sometimes.

Edited to add: I would attend all the Yankees home games they play on my days off.

Yoga, swimming, food, chess, dancing and sex.

So all I need is a chess computer and I'm there!

As the ol' song says:

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

I'd live in a cool climate somewhere north. I'd like to live where I can have access to mountains, forests, or lakes.

I'd live in a small, friendly city with smaller buildings. I'd live in a studio apartment, working as a starving freelance illustrator with hopes to create a successful master work.

My apartment would be small, so it wouldn't feel empty. Almost everything, from the floors and the walls to the appliances I use, would be from a past decade. My furniture would amount to a few shelves and a sofa bed.

I would live alone, but I'd have a small, close-knit friends in the area - including an SO. I'd make efforts to hold parties on occasion, and be able to meet new people.

At some point, once I feel like I've done enough in life, I'd try to move away to a more rural area - a small, self-sufficient community. I might try to raise my own animals (maybe ducks) or grow some sort of crops. Eventually this is where I'd die.

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,
And I'll show you place that's a mess!
