Hi my name is Lisa and I am self diagnosed Autistic.

Ironically from my personal experience of Autism, I came to study
Autism, and I have looked at research from various people such as
Simon Baron-Cohen and Tony Wright.

I am 28 (23.10.79) and I have a 10 year old daughter.

There are many things I could say about myself, I don't know where to begin,
so I'll keep it brief.

I have spent alot of time reciently travelling, I like dancing, I write poetry, I am more right brained than most, yet logical at the same time.

I had my daughter when I was just 18 and I'm a single parent.

I didn't realise I had autism until I was in my mid twenties, but now I believe
that everyone has a different level of autism.

I am very conscious of balancing my diet and practice yoga and love swimming.

I've spent the last 7 months in the Spanish mountains.

I'm looking forward to chatting to everybody, but

I'll leave it here for now, and hope to post some poems or something

Hi everybody, to answer the question, I was
staying in the andalusian mountains of Spain,
in Hippy communes, (well actually people do
their own thing really, so it's not quite a commune,
but it's a good way to have a cheap holiday, and
have some quiet, and meet people). I stayed in
the North aswell, and went to a few festivals, etc.

Hi again, I wanted to explain why I believe I'm autistic.
(Actually that's a hard thing to answer, esp as I think we
as a human race all have a degree of autism). However,
my experience is that, as a child, I have always been different
from others. Infact, I was famous for telling everyone in my school,
(people still remember it now and I'm 28), that I was an alien.! !
So when I heard of this website, it stuch me more than the other
autism web site for the name. That's just a little info, however,
I did spend 10 years on and off with child guidance workers,
teachers for special needs, social workers, Psyciatrists and
Psychologists, etc. I was even put on the child protection list
and it was questioned that I had 'bizarre behaviour', and maybe
I'd been sexually abused by a member of my family. Of course
my family were not abusing me, it's just sad that I was never recognised
as having any degree of autism, and that my school prefered to suggest
that my family were abusers, rather than admit that their education system
did not meet my needs.
Anyway, that's just a little, it's a long story, so I'll leave it here, and hope to
chat more to all of you and I'd like to know if anyone has had simular
experiences to me at school, etc.
