hello!

i found this forum through a google search, trying to find some more information on aspergers. my brother-in-law is an aspie, and i have a few friends online and in real life who are also affected. my partner has a lot of the quirks that come along with aspergers, but we are pretty sure he picked them up growing up with his brother. he was tested as a child but nothing came of it. i like to read as much as i can and talk to as many people as i can so i can better understand what my family and friends' experience of the world is like.

i'm 22, live in edmonton, alberta, and have six cats. my partner of six years and i just bought a house, and are settling in well. right now i'm unemployed, but i usually work in adult group homes or with kids with medical problems. we're going to be fostering medical kids once the paperwork goes through the government offices. he is a chef at a local hotel.

this forum looks to have a lot of awesome stuff on it. :)

Hello there,

I am a self-diagnosed aspie (not officially diagnosed). I also want to help aspies achieve independence. You're in Canada, so the requirements might be different--but what degrees are usually required to work as a counselor (perhaps a "transition counselor" in a group-home setting?

Again, welcome!

Hi seasongster welcome...

As your a cat lover thought your enjoy this quote:
It's said all cats have Aspergers because they do not like being told what to do, intelligent independent, hate change, emotionally detached, inquisitive and have a second sense.
