I saw this notice on one of my "sent" messages:

Quote:
Notice: Do not respond to members who ask you to email them at an external address. These types of messages are sent by scammers.

While this may be true in general, I only sent my e-mail address to someone who is a regular here and who has shown every sign of being legitimate. Surely this shouldn't apply to everyone who asks for outside e-mails.

The disclaimer is meant for protection against Nigerian scammers in particular.

OK, thanks. It would probably help to avoid conclusion if the disclaimer specified messages from Nigeria and/or ones offering promises of easy money, etc. I guess that's not necessary, I just hope the disclaimer does not discourage legitimate members from furthering friendships.
