Greetings all!

Since today I'm a new member of this place. I'm a sceptic when it comes to so called psychiatric diagnoses, but I understand that it can help people. So in that regard I understand why the system exist and I also believe that it might have made life easier for some people.

Am I right?

I think you're right, it is sometimes easier to know what you have.

Welcome!

Welcome to Wrong Planet, new-citizen khelben1979. Yes, I think that psychiatric diagnoses is a good thing, but don't hesitate to get a second opinion if the first one doesn't feel right.

shrug. i dunno. i think understanding yourself is helpful. i think psychologists often have nothing to do with a person's discovery and understanding of themselves. are you right is a nonsense question.

am i sceptic? or a skeptic? infect the septic tank, INFECT it!

by which i mean, hello. and welcome to WP.

Welcome!

A diagnosis by a professional is relevant in some cases, such as if one needs to qualify for certain government programs or benefits. With others, it contributes to their peace of mind to have a diganosis.

Otherwise, hang around and see how much you have in common with others and determine if the suggested coping skills are something you can use. (This is what I do.)

Happy exploring! 8)

Hola and welcome to WP! Upon entering WP you must be aware that there are some strange and random people on here who have a habit of posting nonsensical type things. Be wary of them and remember never feed the flamingos...they know where you live.

Have a great day! :thumleft:

i would correct "be wary" to be aware. Be aware that what may look like random nonsense actually is quite intentional in most cases, and if someone tells you to never feed the flamingos, then they probably have a reason.

infact, infect with antiseptic.

Hi welcome, how can the diagnoses be 100% right when no one knows all the answers and we are not a set of tick boxes! but with understanding and acceptance of our neurological differences we often find true identity - our selfs 8O

The idea of someone telling me what's going on in my own brain used to tick me off a bit. But the AS diagnosis helped me out enough to make me get over that little hangup, lol.

Good to see more new people, I myself signed up this morning. :thumright:
