When I joined wrong planet, about a year and a half ago, we had 2000 members. We now have 15,740 and growing. Alex deserves a large pat on the back!

Thank you for bringing WP to us, Alex. I told you, 20K plus by mid 08.

When I joined, there were only 114 members (I am #115)

That's incredible, Tim! You've really seen it all.

I think you're right BTDT.

I think it's great that there's a message board where aspies from all across the globe can communicate. :)

I guess this is the Alex butt-kissing post.

but seriously.

WP is an amazing technical and social achievement of which Alex should be justifiably proud.

It is fantastic!

And hopefully Alex can use this to represent Aspies, and counter some of the rubbish put out there by Autism Speaks/CAN!

I think it's not only fantastic that Alex has created and maintained this place, but that in addition to his school work, he also advocates for Aspies.

Almost makes me want to be one!
But since I'm one of the few 'pure' ADDer's here, I'm in a special elite class, and that's fine with me. :jester:

Seriously, I also applaud his efforts and the FREE gift he has given (I donated.. how about you? ).
Hopefully this inspires more people to work locally, nationally, or even internationally to bring positive things to the AS community.
We ADDer's benefit as well, I think so anyway.

Remember, while it costs us nothing to come here and unwind... or wind up... or just plain blather on (I should know... I'm an expert at this!), it costs Alex time, money, not to mention the mental cost dealing with angry/upset people or trolls or other site issues.

Also remember the volunteer moderators (as long as I'm kissing ass, I might as well hedge my bet by expanding my efforts   ) who help Alex out and spend their personal time doing so.

:salut: :thumright: :salut: :thumleft: :salut: :thumright: :salut: :thumleft: :salut: :thumright: :salut: :thumleft:

However, I didn't start posting until late March 2006, and there were far more members by then.

WP really has a history that is impressive. I only know it the way it is now. It's hard to imagine what WP was like a few years ago for someone like me who joined much later. I wonder, did it change a lot?

I hope WP continues on for another 5+ years! It's a good place to stay, meet and talk.

Edit: I see, the profile-number of each of us is reflecting the order users joined, isn't it?

You know I was so thrilled to find this site this morning..my two youngest daughters, who are 8 and almost 5 both have been diagnosed as Asperger's. I am so glad to find a place where I can talk to folks about the sorts of things that Aspies go through.

My 8 year old is desperate to make friends.....but has no "social camoflage" , no idea how to go about it, and no clue how to go about making friends. I would welcome any advice that I could give to her, to help her to r4each out to potential friends.....

My 5 year old is going to school in Sept. and I could really use some advice to help her in the same way.....i.e. reaching out to other school age children

Thank you so much for the welcome. my 8 year old was very excited when I showed her this site yesterday....she says it make her feel better to lknow that there are other folks like her out in the world ...I don't let them come on the internet cause they are still little kids but I read her posts and show her the site so thanks so much for making us feel welcome.
