Well, I just joined recently, and I´d like to say hello! My nickname here is "Morgana"...(actually, I wanted the name "Morrigan", but that name was taken...always my problem...hmmm). But, no matter I guess, it´s just another name for the same Goddess. I guess I could have chosen the name "Artemis", as she is my patron Goddess and probably the most like me, but I figured that name was probably taken too...besides, I was feeling in a Crone sort of mood at the time. I became interested in Goddesses about 1 year ago, when I was trying to figure out- yet again- why it was that I just don´t seem to fit in to this world, why I´m not like other people, etc., etc. I figured maybe it was because we live in a patriarchal society, and that was my problem; maybe a matriarchal one would be better for me? So, I tried to find role models through Goddesses... (Throughout my life, I have had countless theories as to why I am the way I am- some of them pretty far fetched, I guess, but I was desperate for answers!)
I finally discovered the theory of Asperger´s Syndrome one day when doing a completely (unrelated) Google Search, and I inadvertently landed on the website of a man with Asperger´s Syndrome. Out of curiosity, I read it, and discovered some amazing connections...was then inspired to get the book "Women from Another Planet", which made me cry...coming to the realization, after all these years, was pretty emotional. I guess I should mention that I am still technically undiagnosed. (I come from that "undiagnosed" generation). As I am an American living in Germany, I think the diagnostic process may be a bit cumbersome in another language. Well, I did take the AQ test for myself (in English, of course), which so far confirmed my belief about myself. At the moment, self knowledge is all I need; I realize I can get a diagnosis at a later date, if warranted.
In any case....for anyone who may be interested, I am a woman- (just in case that wasn´t obvious yet)- and my main intense interest/ love of my life has been dance, actually dance and theater. I am a former ballet dancer, now a choreographer and dance teacher. I also love to watch movies and dvds, as they are basically like an alternate form of theater. I am quite interested in psychology, spirituality, and certain ancient cultures. (I guess I´m kind of an "artsy" type). At the moment, I am obsessed with the subject of Asperger´s Syndrome. Does anyone else have that as a "special interest"?? Just curious...
Well, I´m looking forward to meeting people online!
