Hi, I'm Jaeska. I'm sixteen years old and I reside in suburban Seattle. I was just recently diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and am not entirely sure what to make of it. My parents are less than happy and are not keen on the idea that maybe I'm not as "brilliant" as they might wish, and that I'm really autistic. The psychiatrist kept going on about how it runs in families, and my parents took it rather personally.

But it should be nice being here, and learning more about how to deal with it. I'm so very glad I found this forum.

Welcome to Wrong Planet, Jaeska!

Some of the most famous, above average intelligence individuals have Asperger's Syndrome; which include Albert Einstein, Issac Newton and back on June 1st there was an article written mentioning that Michelangelo is to believed to have had the condition.

There have also been reports that Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates and former Vice President Al Gore may have traits of AS.

Here is a list of others... "Historical famous people," "Historical people prominent in the late twentieth century (died after 1975)," and "Contemporary famous people" who at least have traits of the syndrome.

Hi Jaeska,

Autism and intelligence are not mutally exclusive. I have Asperger's, but that hasn't stopped me from becoming a Ph.D. student at Penn State. Your parents should stop blaming things and focus on the present of here and now. Autism isn't anything to be ashamed of at all. Some very famous people have had it.
