Hi, I'm Brian. I'm not entirly sure what I have, I've been diagnosed with many different things (Asperger syndrome when I was young, then they said clinical depression and learning disabilities).

I joined here to post in a thread about dyslexia that I saw on the front page, and figured I might as well stick around for a while, maybe learning about others will help me understand myself a bit better.

I'm 20 years old, and in college (graduating in April).

I'm studying accounting, and will finish with a certificate (the lower of the diploma offered). I was going to continue with it to get the diploma and potentially go further into accounting but I decided I would try working in horticulture (you can work your way up without going to school) first, as I am much happier maintaining plants than I am doing most accounting related activities.

The accounting skills will come in handy in horticulture, especially if it's a commercial concern ... stock tracking, and all that.

Hi Zata and welcome to the wrongplanet. This is a good place to learn about others and how they deal with issues concerning the autistic spectrum. I was diagnosed with Asperger's. For me, I consider it a gift. I would not want to get rid of it. I love my narrow interests. I do have problems though---the typical issues dealing with socializing.

Unlike many with AS, I have not had trouble maintaining a job. I taught high school English for 19 years, and am now in my second year of teaching the talented and gifted at the same high school. I am also the school's quiz bowl advisor (academic competition).

My interests include amusement parks/roller coasters, model trains, caves, astronomy, writing, and music. Feel free to communicate with me if you like. Enjoy the site.
