Welcome, thegirlisdangerous!

Btw, I really liked his performance of that song at the '95 MTV video music awards. :)

I understand completely! He actually used to be one of my obsessions (when I was very young and again when I was in college).

:D

Hey, Disney's one of mine too! Disney movies, that is. I actually wrote a paper on Lilo and Stitch in college. My professor must've thought I was nuts.

Welcome to WP! I hope someone from Florida can chat with you about their state, since it's one of your interests. :D

I teach children with special needs - 3 to 6 year olds. I love working with the kiddos; they're so much fun.

It's pretty easy to find a job in special education, here in Texas at least, because (I guess) most people don't want to work in that field. So I came upon my job fairly easily. I didn't even study education in college. I studied English and philosophy, but became a substitute teacher after graduation and fell in love with the class I subbed in (it was a group of "severe and profound" kiddos). So I got my alternative certification and signed a contract within a couple of months.

What are you looking to teach?

When i graduate next year i will be able to teach children from age 3 to 12 in primary school - think that is elementary school in america?

But i am thinking about moving into the field of autism and teaching in an autism unit :)

I prefer to be with children rather than adults :) I also work part time with adults that have an ASD, which is how i came to realise i might actually have apsergers myself :D

Ah, makes perfect sense. My sister "diagnosed" me years ago, but when I started working with children with autism, I realized that she was probably right (I have a diagnosis now).

I understand about wanting to work with children. Speaking in front of adults is the scariest thing in my mind. My body actually has a violent reaction when anticipating something like that. So I work better with the children.

I am thinking about seeking a diagnosis for peace of mind.

When i mention it to friends they kind of laugh it off - you see i look very 'normal' and on the face of it appear to fit in very well socially.

But that's not the case underneath! :) I enjoy being different tho, whether i have AS or not :)
