So - I'm about to be 47, and live in the North East US.
I have ten year old twin girls - one of whom will probably be diagnosed AS within the year, and the other has an ADHD dx. Both are bright and do fairly well in school - but present their challenges.
I just took the AQ online test. I scored 29. I think that as a child I might well have qualified as AS myself, but no longer quite meet the criteria. I consider myself ADD - but with social issues similar to some of the descriptions I've read about 'female-type' AS.
I recently married, in Canada, my partner of 23 years. She has serious health issues at the moment, but when she was well, probably would have qualified as an obsessive compulsive personality, with anxiety issues.
I had a hideous middle school / high school experience, where I was mocked, harassed and excluded. My one goal is for my daughters to avoid a similar fate. While they're not 'social butterflies', and the ADHD one does better than her sister, so far so good.
I've been poking around here - and like what I see - so I'm officially saying 'Hey!'
