Hi i'm Gerry I am 28 years old and i was diagnosed many years ago when i was 16 in high school back in 1996. I badly struggle every day and my family and everyone in the small town i live in misunderstands me and misinterprets everything I say. i talk with a real bad stuttering problem and a lot of people here in town make fun of me and call me Rain Man and they mean it as an insult. I got on this website to meet some people that have aspergers that can relate to me and give me some support. i am struggling so bad and it seems as if no one understands. i have real bad insomnia and i am so depressed and hurting. i am very lonely a lot of the times. i am new hear and hoping to make some good friends on this site.

Hi Gerry

If you are having any problems, don't hesitate to share your experiences here, I am sure you will find your experiences similar to many people that frequent these forums.

I stutter sometimes and get my wires crossed with people, as well. It's due to many years of being an isolated and introverted recluse (I still am). :lol:

I think a possible way forward for better understanding is to be as open as you can with people, and explain to them why you might have problems doing certain things or why you have done something in a given way. In other words, try to reach out to others and explain to them why you can do and view things differently to them. You can use many of the forums here for any advice as well, everyone will be glad to help out.

Hi, Garry.
Ah, yes, the problem of stuttering. I have a small problem of that sort, too. I try to talk too fast, and I end up saying something strange and reforming the words again.
I also have a problem with eye contact and mumbling. I usually have to repeat myself for anyone to hear what I say.

Well, hang in there, and always remember you are not alone in the world (I'm a pessimest and I can't believe I just said that).
