Hi, I'm new. I'm pretty sure I have Asperger's but I haven't been evaluated or diagnosed in any way yet. I'm hoping to learn a lot through this forum. Nice to meet you all!

ETA: Forgot to say my name is Barrie. haha, oops.

Hi Barrie and welcome to the wrongplanet. For some people, a diagnosis isn't necessary---not all people want to know if they have it or not. Other people like to know---I wanted to know---and I felt relieved when I was officially diagnosed with Asperger's. It explained so many things to me. However, as I said before, not everyone needs to get a diagnosis if they suspect they have it. You should be able to learn a lot just by reading our posts and interacting with us. In doing this, you can learn a lot about the autistic spectrum and why we behave the way we do---as compared to NTs. Enjoy the site. :D

Thanks everybody! :D

glider18, yes, I see what you mean. I have already learned a lot by reading posts here!! !

I am hoping to achieve a diagnosis of some kind in hopes of salvaging my college education. Something has been standing in the way of me doing well, and the more I learn, the more I think Asperger's has something to do with it. If this is truly what I have, I'm hoping to learn how to use it to my advantage so I can succeed academically, professionally, and socially.
