Hi, this is my first time posting at WrongPlanet although I have been lurking here for some time. I started reading Tony Attwood's book about Asperger's Syndrome about 3 months ago after taking a job as a residential counselor for the chronically mentally ill. One of the clients in the program has Asperger's Syndrome. In attempting to learn more about his condition, I found that a lot of the characteristics described me as well. I am not formally diagnosed, but am pursuing it.

I am a 33 year old single female, no children, live with my 2 cats in Connecticut, USA, and have several interests. Some of these are history, religion, psychology, music, animals, astronomy, health and medicine. It is my hope that I can get to know more people with Asperger's by participating in discussions on this site.

Regards,
Catwoman
aka Melody

Welcome to WP! :) I'm rather new here myself, but have been lurking just as you have been thanks to a friend of mine who introduced me to this place. :) Ah! Tony Attwood's book. That's actually the one I'm reading right now to learn more about Asperger's, both for myself and to explore a hypothesis about a friend of mine who I think also has AS.

As it turns out, I share special interests with both you and Ike. Music, psychology, history. And then to a lesser extent, religion and animals, though the animals one has faded slightly over time.

Hi Catwoman and welcome to the wrongplanet. I too share interests in music and astronomy. In astronomy my favorite interest is comets. I find the Attwood book most interesting and informative. By the way, I was diagnosed with Asperger's recently---although I have known something was different about me for a long time. If you ever want to talk astronomy or music, just pm me.
