My name is Brandon, my user name is my name backwards. I'm 19. Just found this site randomly on Google and thought I would check it out. This is going to be kinda long, so bear with me...

I was diagnosed with AS a bit later than most people- a few weeks ago, in fact. I went to a Psychologist for depression and after talking with me for a while she asked if I had ever heard of PDD. I hadn't until then, if you exclude Autism. When I was kid, I was labeled as being severely ADHD, so I have always thought my problems were consistent with that. She went through my med records and after finding evidence for a PDD, I took an AAA and uh... got diagnosed with A.S.

She mentioned Psychotherapy, but I don't know if I want to do it or not... I'm not rich. In fact, at the moment I have no job. I've been looking, but I live out in the country in a small town and there isn't many options other than cashiers and the like and I have learned long ago that my short term memory is atrocious. So right now I am taking an online HVAC course until I can find a job. Then once I get certified I want to be an HVAC Technician... From there, Geothermal Heating, perhaps. I am very interested in Alternate Energy and want to get in on that one day.

My traits:

When I was little, it was animals... animals this, animals that... turtles were my favorite thing and was all I ever talked about. I also used to collect computer chips, bits of hardware I stripped off of stuff... I was a tinkerer when I wasn't reading about animals. That eventually evolved into what I am now: a hardware guru who tinkers with electronics constantly and enjoys learning all I can about it. In fact, I recently built a computer from scratch and found it be a wonderful experience. That lead to my interest in AC/Heating and why I am pursuing that as a career now. I do have other interests, but that one dominates my existence. Whenever I have nothing to do, my mind is on electronics and computers. But I also find space to be incredibly fascinating, particularly the creation of our Universe and Black holes.

I am a gifted reader. I am hyperlexic, but these days I usually know what the word generally means. When I was little I could pronounce huge words and stuff and I would always use them without really knowing what it meant. I'm not significantly dyslexic when it comes to reading/writing, but I do seem to have a verbal dyslexia. Sometimes I'll mix up what I'm trying to say so I'll end up saying something like "the blue is chair" instead of saying "The chair is blue". I've noticed this tends to happen more when I'm nervous or if I get in a hurry in talking. I haven't actually gotten a diagnosis for this though. Maybe in the future. My greatest weakness academically, has always been Math. I'm only average in Math. Geometry is my nemesis. I also love watching anime. I don't know if there are any anime nerds on here, but if there is, I'll join the club. Action/fighting anime is the favorite. Bleach, Naruto, Blood +, etc..

Interests:

Music:

I like all kinds of music, but I prefer solos. The melody is what matters to me, I could care less if there is lyrics. But I don't like anything that is too hardcore cause it gives me a headache. I also can't stand, despite living in the country, country music. I don't hate it... but something about it doesn't impress me. I also cannot stand RAP/R&B. I think it is an atrocious, piece of crap music genre comprised of a bunch of untalented, ghetto gangster wannabes. If your going to rhyme about something, rhyme about actual life events, not about rape, murder and gang-banging, that's all I'm saying. While I enjoy listening to music, I have no talent in creating it. I can tell what's good or bad, but I can't tell you the composition or use an instrument(if you exclude a Kazoo).

Clothes:

I am not too picky with clothes. I have only two peeves: Tags and tight clothes. If there is a tag, I cut it, it the shirt is too tight I will try to stretch it to a more comfortable size or not wear it. My favorite shirts are ones displaying funny or meaningless phrases or pictures. I love to wear them in public and watch people scratch their heads trying to decipher their meaning. I also collect shirts from places I visit. As far as pants go: Jeans, Khaki... as long as it's comfortable, I'll wear it.

Movies/tv:

I like all kinds of movies.. horror, drama(but not overly mushy stuff), action, comedy... I don't really have a particular favorite movie though.... just as I don't have a favorite color(to me, they're all beautiful and has a use). I like shows on space, technology past and present and those shows that shows you how stuff works/ is made. I'm always looking for ways to expand my knowledge.

Collections:

I collect many things: Coins, Paper Money, Shirts, Hot Wheels... but the coins/ paper money are my favorites because of the historical/ geographic interest I have. My goal is to obtain a coin and paper money from every nation, continent and country if possible.

Well, I am short on time. Hopefully this has given you some idea of who I am and what I like/ dislike. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. This is a cool site and I hope it will help me to learn more about myself and ASDs in general.

Welcome to Wrong Planet!
Have you ever heard of Spoonerisms ("Cough of cuppee", etc)? That sounds sort of like what you describe.
