This may be just a theory. Addictions take on many forms. Internet addiction is documented though, people who spend all their time on internet forums like this one and online gaming tend to ruin their "real" lives just like any other addiction would ravage and tear through a life. I'm not at all suggesting that happened to you. I'm wondering if It's common to say "goodbye" to a forum like this one and have it actually be difficult. I don't mean any offense. I have struggled with opiate addiction and have been abstinent from any drug or alcohol for over 7 years. Moderation is impossible in that area. If the internet were my addiction I might believe that moderation was impossible too. However, there are people that have struggles with food, they are "overeaters" they can't moderate. I'm just seeing allot of people saying goodbye to WrongPlanet and wondering if is pushing their internet Forum addiction over the edge and hindering their real lives. If it is, then taking a break is a good idea. Maybe never coming back is a good idea. But who knows, maybe moderation IS a decent enough idea and you can stop back once in a while and be able to say hi to the people you have met and let them know that you still think about them.
