howdy,
i am here trying to figure out (insert any of the great mysteries of life here)...
i was talking with someone i've known for a long time a few weeks ago. she found out a couple years ago, in her 50s, that she was an aspie. after our conversation she asked if i thought i was too. i had never really thought about it or looked into it, just never felt "normal". i took a couple online tests that she referred me to and scored 40/50 and 170/200 or something like that. of course i figured everyone would, so i sent it to my brother and he got a 10. so much for that theory. i read some online descriptions and info about AS and wow, that explained a lot about my life. i have always been great at math and engineering, but "stupid" with people. i also feel very stressed in social situations because i don't know what people want from me. it's a drag because my main interest is rock climbing, which requires a partner. i have discovered that while i am a good climber, i am not good at the social rituals which seem to be required to find and keep a partner. there are social butterfly people at the gym who are not great climbers but always have an endless supply of partners. this frustrates me. not that that is the only thing that frustrates me, lol. so i am here trying to figure out what all this means, and how best to deal with it.
cheers

Welcome, and let me just say, you've definitely come to the right place. Even from my own very short experience here, I've found that just about everybody here has dealt with/are dealing with/want to learn how to deal with these kinds of issues in their life. You'll find widely varied advice, yet all of it is sure to be earnest and thoughtful. For starters, you might want to try telling us all some stuff about yourself and some of your circumstances, perceptions, problems, and goals, and then we can go from there.

Rock climbing is exciting, and strenuous. I can't do it.
