Hi! Any members from Australia?

I have a 4yr old son with ASD, a 3yr old who is in the process of getting diagnosed along with myself.

It has been great to find this site, its given me a new perspective on ASD

Cheers

Annette

Keul

Maybe I can make some friends here - it has been a pretty lonely existance to date, not that it bothers me a great deal these days - sometimes though I think it would be great to talk to someone.... and then it dawns on you that there is next to nobody.

Problem is I find chit chat exhausting and boring and really only want to talk about things that I am into - which basically at the moment is my kids and their progress, the stock market (I trade currencies and options), computer programming (I used to work as a software devloper) and horses (my only true love!)

I have made it worse for myself at the moment as I have been drinking copious amounts of caffeine which seems to make the obsessions worse and get me quite high, now I have to prepare myself for a life without caffeine - life can be so cruel............

What are your interests? Do you trade? I follow Elliot Wave analysis for my long term movements - which is where the options come in, on a day to day basis i trade cfds, watching several markets at once looking for clues, I could just stare at charts endlessly, if i didnt have the kids the only break i would have would be the forced one over the weekend.

I did not realise this was much of a problem until I took antidepressants, they effected me so badly i had to fight with myself to get away from the computer (just one of many bad side effects). After this I completely detoxed on a no carb diet, I can feel myself going nuts again after drinking caffeine for a couple of months - god I cant drink alcohol (had to stop many years ago after totalling my ducati whilst extremely pissed) - now caffeine - dna testing has shown a polymorphism in my metabolism - my kids are better after removing gluten - but I suspect we will all have to be chemical free / organic to be 100%, how dull

I have no special interests, people are my passion.

I am good at research though. I do not trade i feel that it is too dangerous of an investment, i keep bonds though, the value doubles every 12 years.

Dieting, who does that? I just eat responsibaly. I know my limits and what needs to be eaten for my daily activities, I have a friend who is a hockey player, he can gain and drop pounds on demand for whatever his team needs. He showed me a couple of his secrets and it does work. I can drop twenty in a very short amount of time healthily and if needed gain twenty healthily in almost the same amount of time.

THe only time I have ever had strong desires to be around other people was when I used to drink. Unfortunately I used to get myself in such a state that nobody wanted to know me so its alway been a no win situation for me with people. Thank god for the internet - its the only way I really feel comfortable communicating

Hi and Welcome Annette.

I'm in Sydney, Australia.

I'm an aspie married to an NT with two kids. My 8 y.o. is Aspie and my 5 y.o. was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism (which these days is considered to be the same as aspergers). To be honest, my 5 y.o. out-aspies my aspie child.

--

We all find chit chat a bit dull (and exhausting) so no worries there.

If you want to talk kids, please do. There's a parents forum here which will usually put you in touch with the right audience but if you want to talk "growing up in Australia" or services in Australia, just make a general topic or you can PM me or my wife (she is on here as jbollard).

I'm no good with stocks ... isn't now not a great time to be involved with them. I've got two friends who just lost 12K and 14K apiece.

I'm in IT, so I know a bit about development. Are you planning to go back to work?

Horses... no...I don't know much about them though my brother in law used to look after them. His father was a trainer who got killed at the races (Randwick I think).

- anyway.... Welcome!

I am not really this rigid in my topics of conversation, I have just driven myself quite batty over the last couple of months with caffeine (I wonder if others have this problem). Anyway I am back off it again and feeling a little less wound up this morning to say the least.

With both my children needing extensive speech therapy amongst other things going back to work in IT is an impossibility, which is why i have sought out other income streams by way of trading. I have also been collecting TAB data for a number of years and have written a program to analyse this data on the fly and place bets - so it all keeps me busy

I will look out for you both

Cheers

Annette

Hi welcome, the start of self discovery can be so lonely and in fact isolate us more, sometimes I also want friends but on my terms never seems to work, hopefully the beginning of my journey will help you on yours...

Drugs and / or alcohol have never worked for me, caffeine continues to be my friend along with the computer 8O :alien:
