Greetings, Everyone.

I am a nineteen year old male, currently residing in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, learning to become and Intelligence Analyst in the United States Army. I will actually graduate in a few weeks, and will move on to Airborne school, before eventually deploying to Korea for three years. I joined the Army to support my Father and my seventeen year old Sister, as well as provide for my future ambitions for several Ph.D.s (Archaeology and Linguistics, primarily). Before I joined the Army, I was enrolled in the Post-Secondary Education Option (PSEO) at my local Community College in Minnesota. The PSEO program, for those who don't know, basically allows a high school student to attend college full-time at the expense of the state. The primary reason for my doing this was to escape the administration at my high school, which had an active hatred against me and my few friends (yes, I actually had a few, and no, it is not paranoia). The added benefit, of course, was obtaining my Associate of Arts degree by the time most people graduate high school, which gave me a bit of a leg up (and the rank of Private First Class in the Army).

In my early childhood, I was home-schooled up until the beginning of middle school (6th grade). Due to the eccentricities of my Father, I was not aware of the fact that I processed things differently than most other people. My Father, in all probability, actually enhanced some of these characteristics by raising me to be an independent thinker, and to question everything that entered my sphere of influence, as well as project things (whenever possible) to their logical end. I spent my sixth, seventh, and eighth years in China, as my parents taught English at a local university there. When I was fourteen, my Father was diagnosed with an unknown neural disease (in as much as it is possible to diagnose and unknown disease), which left him unable to function normally. In the next four years, he was able to regain most of his cognitive abilities, but his motor skills are returning more slowly. His numerous doctors have projected that while his cognitive abilities may yet return to normal, his motor skills will most likely never return to their original state, due to the neural reconstruction. As such, he has been living off of Social Security disability payments since the incident. Due to this event, my Mother divorced my Father, and is currently remarried.

My reasons for joining this BBS are still largely unknown, though I do wish to better understand both people similar to myself and the so-called 'normal' people. Until this point, I have functioned fairly well in society by mimicking what I observe other people doing, but much of what I see I do not understand, and even more of what I see is completely illogical. There are not really any people that truly understand me, but I am fortunate enough to know a few people around whom I can act without my facade, and they accept me as such. I am hoping that the decision to join this BBS will yield many interesting paths of thought, as well as a few people I can come to call friends.

I think that covers the large majority of my life and my reasons for joining this BBS; if you have any questions or just wish to engage in a conversation, please do not hesitate to send me a PM. I request, however, that you send me a PM before you contact me via e-mail or YIM, as I like to limit the amount of traffic through those systems.

*RESPECT*

Dude, you are a real man, not like the pampered teenage whimps on college campuses. Fu** them. You are always gonna have a job in the army, and you can support your dad and you sis. You know, I come from three generations of men like you. My grandfather was an aspie and was always tormented in life, work, etc. throughout his life. And still he always had a job - mined, dug for gold, farmed, even had a scuba diving licence - and he always supported his family. My dad - same thing. He slaved away at a construction site where everyone gave him hell, pressured him to sign off on unsafely built projects, abused at work, but still he kept at it and supported us ALL his life. I just hope I can be like that. In other words. You are the man, dude.

Keep at it,
Jeff
