My name is Michelle. I'm a 29 year old Aspie. My daughter Persephone is 4 and she has classic autism. It's nice to find a community of people who truly understand where you're coming from. The neurotypicals in my life have a hard time really understanding me and my daughter. I don't have many friends because it isn't easy to find friends who can accept me for who I am. Everywhere I go, I just feel so out of place.

Welcome. Here almost everyone knows how it feels. We try so hard to see what we're doing wrong and all of that. You'll soon see this is one of the best places to be. Enjoy your stay

Hi michelle7379 - welcome to WP!

I can definitely relate to the feeling of outofplaceness - I hope you find (as I did) that this place is different. This is the place where misfits fit. :)

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to WP.

You'll find acceptance here. Neurotypical Mother's groups etc, have their place but by the time children reach the age that Persephone is (great name btw), they've outlived their usefulness and contain only unfair comparisons and sadness.

You might want to see if you can find some other parents in your area with similar problems as sometimes online support just isn't enough.

No doubt, I'll see you in the Parent's Forums.
