Well, damn the English language for its small variety of greetings.
Hello. My name is Daniel Beachy, but any variation of the name "Daniel" works as well. I prefer "Dan". I live with my father in Sedona, Arizona. I'm fifteen years old and have Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed with a "mild case" of AS while in the hospital being treated for depression and suicidal ideation (insofar as those things can actually be treated). I found it useful to know why I am the way I am.
In addition to AS, I "suffer" from many aspects of Dissociation. Nine Inch Nails' album "With Teeth" reflects very accurately how I feel -- about myself, about the world, and about everything in between. I appreciate Mr. Reznor's essentially reading my mind and putting my thoughts to such a pleasant tune.
I also have a great many mannerisms and phobias (water and windows, for instance).
My interests include collecting [coins, quotes, and relics], conversing, cryptozoology, debating, exercising my imagination, high fantasy, Linux (and computer-related stuff in general), music, mythology, physics, psychology, science fiction (Star Trek, Star Wars, anything written by Rad Bradbury and a number of others), statistics and trivia, reading (at the moment, 1800s stuff), traveling, and writing.
I've had a few obsessions in my lifetime. I've always been very good at spelling words (I won my school's spelling bee in the fourth, sixth, and eighth grade, but have never gone to county for various reasons). I used to play the Pokemon handheld games competitively. It got to the point where I had over a dozen level 100 Pokemon, EV trained and all, but that obsession seems to have died with my inability to get any of the fourth generation games.
I'm unschooled, which is a subset of homeschooling. I have no friends in what many people refer to as "real life". That is to say, my social life is entirely virtual. I resent the notion that my life, all my friends and so on, are not "real".
I'm afraid of what the future will bring, as well as what it will not. I don't know if I want to live my life out and see what happens.
I'm not actually as somber as this post would lead one to believe.
Under the circumstances, that's all I can think of that warrants mention.
