Hello,

I'm a 24-year old female, and I don't know if I have AS or not. I just googled "hand flapping" (which is something I do often) and all these websites came up linking it to AS. It really doesn't matter that much to me if I have it or not, but it does make me feel better that I'm not the only person on earth who has this strange behavior. :)

My life has been pretty normal, I would say I'm slightly less social than most people but nothing too strange. I didn't have any developmental delays or problems. In fact, I was even in gifted classes. So, it has never occured to me that I might be autistic, even a little bit.

I was wondering if anyone else out there hand flaps and jumps on their tip toes like I do. And sometimes, I open my mouth wide open. It really gets out of hand if I have coca cola!

My mom thinks that maybe it was a medicine they gave her while pregnant when she was in danger of having a miscarriage. Anyone else know anything about that???

Anyway, Thanks for your time!

it's a releif, ain't it?...;) AS is a spectrum, not everyone has the same symptoms, or to the same degree...

welcome

Hey there, timeizhard! ^_^

In response to your post.....
1) It's not unusual for an aspie to be gifted, :D or to have no developmental delays
2) Not sure about the mecicine... I've heard it's thought to be genetic, rather than an acquired thing,

Hope you like it here on WP! There are some really awesome people on this site! :thumright:

You could have some sort of atypical autism. Some of them just have some odd ASD traits and IQs as high as they come. I'm talking way past 145(mensa lvl). Maybe read up a bit more on HFA and PDD-NOS and you'll find even more traits you have.
