Hey everyone I already posted in the general forum, but i just wanted to say hi here. I had never really known about asperger's until this weekend when i watched just add water, a movie about a surfer that has asperger's. i was listening to the experts describe the syndrome as "You dont suffer from asperger's, you suffer from other people." i then went to research it the next day and found that so many of the traits of an aspie apply to me. the biggest thing was the social awkwardness. I think so many people today are just... i dont like the word, but tools. they cant think for themselves or accept the possibility of other beliefs than their own. I dont mind stubborn people (I am one myself), but when something is founded upon speculation people cant be so hostile. hostile. thats the word. when presented with new information or possibilities, they fear that much of what they believe in could be just plain false, and that disturbs them such that they become hostile. ah rant again.

thanks for reading mi historia. nice to meet all of you!

Hello Cermit, welcome to WrongPlanet, make yourself at home, have a wander around. There are some links somewhere to online tests, and while they are not conclusive, and they are not proper clinical diagnostic tools, they can give some indication as to whether people are somewhere on the autistic spectrum.

Good starting points are also the wikipedia page on Asperger's Syndrome. And you can use just browse the different forums or search for specific topics here or feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks Lulu. i actually did one of the test and i got an aspie score of 159/200 and a NT score of 52/200. the detailed results are in the general section on the "Could AS be why?" thread if you are interested at all, its just long.

Welcome, Cermit. You won't believe this, but I was actually a classmate and "friend" (in the sense that our mothers were friends and made us mix as young children, we did our own thing) with Clay Marzo, the star of Just Add Water. We both grew up in Lahaina, Hawaii during the 1990s, and we were in the same elementary school classes for 6+ years. Just thought you would find that interesting.
