Hey All This forum is awesome. After decades (I'm 54) I feel I've finally found my own species. I'm an undiagnosed Aspie woman. I had some psych help 25 years ago that, in retrospect, pointed me in this direction, but back then Asperger's wasn't on the radar and my psychologists were mystified by me. They diagnosed me with Dysthymia, which they described as my "not fitting" in the world, a sort of "right-brain person trying to live as a left-brain person," but they couldn't figure out why. I didn't stay in therapy because it wasn't helping and my psychologists' befuddlement didn't give me much hope.
Then a couple years ago I read a Psychology Today article about a girl with Asperger's and an article/book excerpt by Tony Attwood about girls with Asperger's. They blew me away. They described ME. So I started researching, took the online tests telling me I am most likely an Aspie, and here I am. I'm overwhelmed by things I want to say and questions I want to ask... but for now just want to say hi and I'm so glad you're here!
