What to say... I always find intros awkward.

I'm a young person who's parents refuse to accept an Asperger's diagnosis. I was officially diagnosed a year ago, although I suspected I had Asperger's two years before I was diagnosed. I really don't know what else to say.

I have a profoundly autistic cousin, and what my parents heard for the diagnosis was "Asperger's, a form of autism." I was radically accellerated at school (apparently spelling didn't matter) and my parents preferred to attribute my total lack of social ability to the age difference, and called my sensory defensiveness, monotone voice, special interests, meltdowns etc. "idosyncracies," never mind that I match the Asperger's profile.
