Hello (waves to all)
Im 27 and was diagnosed with Asperger’s several years ago after some issues at work, at the time I immediately told the Dr where to go (not those words) and suggested he reread DSM-4. I was in denial, ive know for along time I wasn’t like others but figured I was just different. Some recent events have forced my hand to finally accept why i am the way i am and lead to my being here. Pure logic always made this difficult to accept. A broken leg is a broken leg and that i can see it, for me this was a blind man driving.

I find myself so caught up in the most simple of things and loose sight of the bigger picture, once spent a week researching construction cranes and completely overlooked the important things like going to work. One common trait Ive found with aspies is a dedication to a specific topic, for me its construction cranes I have no idea why but I enjoy it (have GB’s of data on the subject) and have since learnt how to separate this from my daily life. Reading through the forum has made this make alot more sense as its borderline OCD.

Im straight, had several relationships with NT’s most all have ended badly, I think mostly from a lack of understanding on both sides and that i can be a complete ass. Ultimently my goal here is to gain a better understanding of my behavior so i can limit the effects and maintain normality. Until recently I thought I was asexual but have met someone (long complicated story) and its completely freaking me out.

Over the years just being me has been difficult but in retrospect I feel worst for the pain it has caused those around me, this has become more apparent as I come to understand how it effects me. I would strongly encourage anyone who knows or feels they are suffering in silence to talk about it with those close to you and seek professional help for yours and their sake.

I look forward to interacting with others of the same ability and sharing strategies and suggestions for integrating myself back into the community.

Fudo, I can totally relate to your Avatar! LOL

footprint.... I'm a newbie too and glad to find so many others. Looking forward to getting to know you and everyone.

I like cranes, but they're not my special topic, which is buddhism, homesteading, and I'm thinking now Aspism.

But I do have a question... are cranes monogamous? Do both parents raise the chicks?

Just a note I've edited this post, when it was made i was in a bitter place.
Armed with the knowledge from the forum I went out today and analysed my behavior in social and work situations only to realise how deeply it was impacting my interactions. I fear it may be to late for my long complicated story, things have taken a turn for the worst i fear we're back to friend but appears i have her full support which is helping.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
