Oh you're far too modest! That's an unusual quality round here.

Welcome to the site. There's quite a number of Queenslanders here, i expect they'll show up eventually. i'm in Tas.

Hi and Welcome,

I'm from Australia as well - Sydney though.

I'm sure you've got plenty to talk about - and at your age, you've obviously had a life.

What are your interests/hobbies?
How did you arrive at aspergers as a label?

BTW: You don't have to answer these if you don't want to. I was just prompting to help you find things to talk about.

Not that you were asking me but I don't see a terrible lot of discrimination here.

Funny thing was though, a couple of guys came to our house collecting for Sydney Mission last night. They wanted us to fill in a form to provide banking details and we said "No, but we can give you a donation right now". They replied that they couldn't accept a donation because we didn't know them.

Then they went on to say, "I'm an Islander and my pal here is Vietnamese" so why would you trust us.

That was weird.

They just looked like people to me.

Hi flamingshorts, welcome to WP. Just moved to Adelaide from Brissie. Miss it already. You probably have heaps to say you mysterious person, you.
And racism is rife in Oz but there are strict laws against it so it is usually quite subtle.

that sounds more like a scam, actually. Making a donation of cash, is always acceptable and most welcome. Giving your banking information is just asking for trouble, but if they can guilt you into trying to prove you are not a racist by signing over your account information, then they have pulled their scam.

yes racial discrimination is a huge problem in australia especially in the work force.
it's not that kind of american style racism that you see in the movies though, it is a polite kind of racism which makes it all the more horrible, painful and hard to fight.

a quote like this is very familiar "i hate asians but my friend here john he's alright even though he's asian he's not one of 'those' asians though"
there's a real us vs them feeling amongst white people in australia in some places, but theres not a lot of hate crimes or things like this.
i don't live in australia actually because i felt that this situation was so stifling.

anyway sorry to hi-jack

g'day mate howsitgoin? welcome to WP
