Changing my username for the board

First of all, sorry if this has been asked or dealt with. I checked the FAQs and have not found an answer.

Is there anyway I can request my username be changed?

What's wrong with aspie princess - I think it's nice.

If you post 1000 times, you can customize your status - it's not a name change but it's close.

I think it's quite a nice name too. Probably your best bet is to set up another account though and use that instead.

Actually, it is possible, just requires a little bit of modification to the MySQL database, far less complex then things Alex has implmented in the past, no more work then reading a single PM.

No luck on getting you to admit your old user name, is there.

It is about more than how easy it may be to implement a change. One person changes their name, many more will want to. If someone has made hundreds, thousands of posts, it could be very confusing to keep track of things in threads where they had posted if the name change is more than cosmetic. It isn't nearly as cut and dry as you want to make it out to be.

Actually, it might be easier to modify the forum displays and add another field. That way you'd retain your logon name for life but have a "display-name" that you could change.

Alex could offer that ability as the 2000th post reward

Some people dont stay after there 1000th post

currently usernames cannot be changed except in rare instances where you're being stalked and your username is the same name as your legal name (which doesn't seem to be the case). perhaps gbollard's suggestion could be a reward for 5,000 posts but that wouldn't be implemented anytime soon.

Reward i like rewards i doubt i'll ever reach 5000 as now i only tend to do one liners

Comet - one liners seem to be a faster way of getting lots of posts. Look at Tim, he's got squillions of posts but most of them are one liners saying welcome - there's been at least 15000 new people join since him.... (btw: sorry Tim - not picking on you - honest).

My 1000+ posts haven't done my hands any good because I often write too much.

Yeah your not picking on Tim just saying he does oneliners thats how he got his high post count
