Information on Locking

Hi guys,

I've been on WP for years and have largely not encountered any problems. Recently I have had one comment deleted and a couple of months later, a thread that I have posted on has been locked with no explanation.

I think I know why my first comment was deleted; it was quite critical towards a post in the Haven and did not offer a solution, so in retrospect, fair enough. It just took me a while to figure out why.

In the locked thread, I was genuinely trying to offer advice and was quite surprised to see it locked. I am worried that it is because of what I wrote. I don't want to be banned from WP; I like this site and I like the people on it, but I am slightly scared to write what I mean anymore.

I understand that the mods have a hard enough job as it is, but would it be possible to maybe state the reasons for locking threads or deleting comments? Even just a reference to a particular segment of the rules would be helpful.

I'm not writing this to be awkward; I am just trying to work out why some of what I have written is censored and the rest is not.

As far as the thread you were giving advice in, it could have gotten locked because of what happened before you, not because of what you had posted.

I'd consider that lucky, because if people are gonna keep arguing after you give your advice, someone might overlook your post. Hey, you got that last post in, it'll be easy to spot.

Although usually when a thread gets locked, I see that a moderator has a post at the end explaining why the thread was locked. I'm surprised there was no explanation, regardless of whether it had good reason for a locking.

No, Lene, it wasn't because of what you posted. The OP thread was seen as an attack on another site by the mods, which goes against the WrongPlanent rules; that's why it was locked.
