Do we really have to have bird names over the avatars?

This seems to be more of a alien themed site so why use birds?

Lets use the theme.

Excellent example of "bigger fish to fry".

Alex created the site so he chose what fit based with the idea.

You can asked him about it as well to be honest.

Well, we could always borrow off of sci-fi. Star Wars, Star Trek, Macross saga, Halo... there's not very many REAL aliens out there besides us, but there is a lot of fictional ones.

Or we could do different stages of alien life... start with Egg, go to Larvae, then Grunt, Brute, Elite, etc... cant think of anything higher...

I was thinking the same thing.

I've been watching Stargate SG-1 and I'm nearing the 5th season (first time delving into the shows), [spoiler alert danger will robinson danger] and the Asgard are badass, almost almighty with their weaponry. Tim's nickname should be Thor.

I like the birds. And I dislike change. :)

Sometimes, I think the birds are what kept me here for so long. Getting to 1000 posts and choosing my own title was my goal for ages.

These days I don't really care about my post count (which is a shame because I've probably written more here in the last few months than I've written in 3 years...)

I'm really curious why Alex chose birds though, and why this particular procession (i.e. why emu-eggs and velociraptors...)

yeah, i'd be surprised if it changed.

post count: i've noticed a lot of things are like that. when you care a lot about something, it's hard to get. then later, when you're onto something else and unconcerned, suddenly the thing's easy to do or get and if anything, you have too much of it.

i think that's similar to "when it rains, it pours" (but not quite the same thing).

i'm fine with birds myself mainly because it gets me to look up a bit about whatever bird i am *now* but i'd be ok with aliens if it ever changed to that too.

I like the birds, and I think an unnecessary change would upset some members (it would annoy me for sure). Plus, now I'm a Phoenix! :P
