Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was wondering why are our member status titles the names of birds? I find it intriguing.

instead of birds, i believe it should have been a color-coded meter, with "novice" at the far left and "veteran" on the far right, and with encouraging captions such as "hold 'er steady", "now you're getting there", "keep on posting!", and such. or maybe a naval theme, such as "able seaman", "CPO", "warrant officer", "commodore" and such.
