We, the undersigned, are here-by making our opinions known about the horrible behavior, drug refreances, suicide threats, etc, that is taking place in the wrongplanet freenode chatroom. This chat room is supposed to be family friendly.

(feel free to ad your opinoins to your posts, but only post if you are signing.)

i have been using the wrongplanet chat for some time now, and i am rather taken aback at some peoples choice of conversation, in what should be a friendly, supportive chat.

Well, i'm certainly not signing, har. Maybe you should learn to deal with this stuff yourself, I see no problem with drug referencing. Also it was you who came into the chatroom yesterday impersonating subatai_baadur using the CGI chat, apologising for lying, in fact.. you flat out called me a liar the other day, and when I called you on it by quoting some lines only a few minutes beforehand to clarify what was said, you went in a huff and left.

I have logs. Other people have logs. If anyone wants proof it can be arranged :p

then you made the proof up, because I didn't. But, knowing how much you hate me, I wouldn'tbe surprised.

Well I trust Alex and since this thread is directed at Alex and I assume he has the chat room logs with all the IP address data and can find who said what. If he finds people have violated the TOS agreement he can take action. I think you all should report
the precise incidences you have problems with to him.

I don't hate you, I just wish you'd stop trying to control the chatroom all the time.

I haven't made up the proof, I know at least one other person who could supply the necessary evidence. An impartial operator could also supply it.

I'm fairly new to WP's IRC, so whatever history exists between the parties involved, I am not aware of it. This is basically a dispute between bobalobaluga & subatai_baadar, and racketty_tamm & NoHope. For reasons that mystify me, whenever an op intervenes, they just warn sub and bob, and overlook far worse transgressions to do so. If it happened once, I'd put it down to not paying attention, but it's happened three nights in a row now, and it's getting hard to ignore, so it is generally interfering with otherwise friendly discussion. Here's tonight's, with (my reckoning of) the irrelevant parts removed to cut it down by 20x. If I've missed anything or pasted in the wrong order, it's an accident, so do correct me.

I asked someone else about my observations (I won't name names), and they told me that NoHope was apparently sided with "because she is trying to stop people from picking on others", and that she was "right". When I pointed out that this ran afoul of everything evident, I was told I was badgering the person (who volunteered their opinion to me), and that "when people start with me" they get ignored.

I observed a rather similar occurance the previous night where subatai was hounded and then muted by an op (who I won't name) while recounting a violent incident in his life to me after I asked (cheered on by NoHope). It was, I felt, in stark contrast to far more extreme "infractions" of the rules. When I pointed this double-standard out, NoHope openly threatened me, and the op invoked that favourite defence of someone who knows they're abusing their power, and doesn't care to justify it: The rules are the rules, and it's not a democracy. This, of course, misrepresents the fact that I was arguing that the rules hadn't even been broken. I know what abusing power sounds like, because I do it often enough on my own site (and an IRC channel of similar size). I don't run a site that promotes itself as a source of "support" though.

It seems very clear to me what the source of animosity is on the chat at the moment. You always get the occasional troll, but it only gets nasty *reliably* between certain hours, and those hours happen to coincide with the precense of a few select people. The only thing missing is anyone with both the means and the will to put in a warning at the right time.

I can't even get into the chatroom because of my Java Applet thingy.

I'm not gonna bother, because I can't be asked, and what I've seen posters write about the chatroom are mostly negative, so I'll stay away and keep with MSN.

Honestly, it's the friendliest IRC channel I've ever been in... 19 hours out of the day. Don't let a little disagreement between a couple of people discourage you.

#2 El_Genie, you are a troll, you harrase us even when we do not do anything.

tamm, unless you'd like to back that insult up with something, I suggest you follow your own advice, and leave blatant lies out of it. I actually didn't have a problem with you (which is why I chose not to name you) beyond this isolated incident. I didn't badger you, I simply disagreed, and you volunteered your opinion to begin with. I am not trolling, and I am generally rather polite on IRC, which is more than I can say of you this past couple of days.

By we, I assume you mean you and NoHope, who.. as it happens, got banned earlier for constantly mouthing off to anyone she found annoying heh. SireeBob was the one who resolved the hex IP, so there's at least one other person with proof.. and yeah, lying to get someone in trouble IS pretty low... so why are you doing it?

I think everyone just needs to stop arguing.

A lot of us get a lot of s**t irl and the chat room is really the only place where we can feel safe. Where we can feel accepted for who we are. Where we dont get hounded for having a PDD.

Why ruin a good thing?

I agree with hyper alien. I find the chatroom a good support for myself and for a lot of others. I have good friends there that help me when I am blue. When others want to talk about what is bothering them, a lot of us there will listen. Sometimes there are those that just want to come there and don't feel like talking, but just to be around. I know one time someone came in and was troubled and when I tried to talk to them they didn't want to. And that's okay. I left them alone and talked with others. As for drugs, sometimes that is an issue for aspies. A lot of times because of the way we are, drugs seem to help us to 'fit in' in some point of our lives or help us to 'relax' so we're not so tense as we get around social situations. I am not saying it is okay or not. Some are recovering and some are still using.
I think this arguing has to stop, though. This is one of the few places I feel comfortable coming and I am glad that it's available to us.
