Naaa ... the OP does not include controversial or inflammatory language, so I doubt that he's trolling.

Possibly . . . There was originally a C but it was taken out when my ancestors came to the US because the immigration inspectors would change foreign names to sound more american back then.

So were your ancestors French or German?

I sometimes wonder if my grandfather's real surname was supposed to be Hitler and if his family changed a few letters around to avoid mistreatment :P

Unlikely. Hitler was originally Heidler ... and Hitler wasn't even his real name it was Schiklgruber. I think there was only one family named Hitler because Hitler isn't even a real name.
