You could ask someone you absolutely trust to change your password. I can't think of anyone like that, but it would be possible.

If you want to avoid posting here, you could also type something random in a text editor, copy and paste it to both password inputs for changing the password (without looking at it) and then close the file without saving.

Yes, there's password recovery, but it would be like putting a lock on your liquor cabinet to limit your use. You can always get past the lock, but it makes it at least a little harder.

I'm not sure if that helps.

It makes it a much bigger hassle to log in, and if someone wants to stop logging in to the site, it could. If someone is effectively addicted, nothing will help, even if the account was deleted at some point (at their request) they would likely later break down and make another one.

Yeah, I'd like to start hearing some legitimate reasons for why people want to erase their WP identity.

The reason I would want is that I don't want people to be able to find what I've said in posts about myself - some of it can get personal and I don't want any connection with this site in the end. Editting all of my posts to nothing would take some time as well.
But oh well. I had someone looking for information about me on any site they could find and if they found this one, it would perhaps be the worst. Hence why I stopped posting here/having any contact here.
*shrug*

Deleting all posts by a user would be difficult, and problematic, in that it would render threads with posts by that member potentially incomprehensible.

If anything, if you have to have your account deleted, the best alternative I can think of would be to ask Alex to change your screen name to something simple, like a number or letter-number combination, and to then ban you. Still a hassle for him, but that's the only possible way to take care of it that I could come up with.

If there's personal stuff in the posts, like names, locations, that you are concerned about, you would still have to edit that, and no quotes would reflect the changes.
