Whats up with all the broken avatars?

Since today I see broken avatars everywhere. Did something happen with the stock avatars of WP? Or is my browser acting up?

Nether - it's most likely network connectivity issues somewhere between you and WP. Other members have occasionally reported broken/incomplete emoticon panel displays too.
From here, I see no broken avatars...

Is there anything I can do about it? I'm one of those persons that recognizes people by their avatar rather than their name and it's becoming really annoying.

Occasionally I've had problems with WP avatars or other images not showing and I found that clearing the browser cache and restarting the browser usually fixes the problem. It is worth a try.

Apologies for the very late reply, I somehow missed your post. I tried your suggestion but it has the exact same problem. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I still don't understand how this problem works. I can see the avatars just fine of about 85% of the users. I can see the avatars of all the users in this thread. The problem also has nothing to do with how old the avatar is. Some new ones don't work and some old ones don't. As this problem happens on any browser it has to do with my ISP I think? But why is it not be able to load only a handful of avatars? Aren't they all uploaded to WP? I don't get it!
