Please add an option to hide or block members... although I know a lot of people will block me as usual

There is no on-going site development - WP runs in a "what you see is what you get" mode and that's unlikely to change any time soon.

But it is possible to add a script to block members - it's a little technical, but if the steps are carefully followed it seems to work well.
See: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=167309&start=64#p8051563

Alternatively, and not meaning to sound flippant, members you dislike can just be ignored.
Skip past their posts.

It might be helpful to add an addendum to the rules clarifying that asking for help related to a fetish is allowed in the Adult section but other fetish discussion is not allowed on WP including in the Adult section

it would be great to migrate from phpBB to Discourse, It's an amazing modern forum software and I can help with the techy part.

It took a decade to move from the very early, and buggy, phpBB implementation to the current version and now, a decade after that move, it's unlikely that a migration to a completely different forum system would be considered.

I would give that person a chance to put a demo together, they impress me as highly capable.

Does anyone else have difficulty with the lowered contrast of quotes?

Oh I don't doubt that at all - but over the twenty years of WP's existence there have been any number of other forum software packages, some of which I've used and wished our forum software did (X) too.

Even developing pbpBB a little more, and maybe take advantage of the many extensions available, could yet provide more than enough to improve the functionality.

But the site has been updated once in twenty years - largely because it had to be: that early version was a real pain with some horrible bugs.

So the issue isn't one of demonstrating shiny different software (with all the accompanying issues a migration would involve) - it's one of willpower and for better or worse, Alex considers the current performance of WP as being adequate.
I'm inclined to agree (but would still like just a few tweaks and bells-n-whistles  ).

While on the topic of revolutionary changes to the forum, can we add this emoji?

As near as I can tell this, and other visual oddities, are browser-related and probably CSS implementation-related.

I don't get much of a difference in contrast of quoted text (it's only slightly greyer) during editing or after posting - but previewing a post with a quote shows the text in a much smaller font. After posting, the quoted text is still a smaller font - just not as microscopic as when previewed.
I've recently abandoned Firefox for Vivaldi (plug, plug), which uses the Chrome engine, and this micro-quoting didn't occur in FF.

(one thing which did occur is that links to images source on Twitter always displayed as the text "Image" - yet displayed fine in Chrome, Vivaldi and a couple of other browsers).

And just to prove me wrong this image is showing in Vivaldi as... "Image"
But only when linked in a post here; if I go to the link directly it displays fine.

Unfortunately, while it's easy to add more emoticons it's beyond my reach and remains something only Alex can do.

Dang, I guess that's gonna take a Festivus miracle.
