Why do we get these weird ads?

Or is it just me in my country?

What ad banners have you been seeing lately?

Oh. I am disappointed. I thought that someone finally really wanted to know if I had acid reflux.

I've been seeing a number of ads, about dating sites. Some from my own country. I wonder if others can see that too.

Yes I did see the acid reflux one on a few occasions. I hope this is not paranoia, but the ads (some) are targeting a young adult from my location. Just coincidence???? :?

I have no idea what an Indian Back Treatment is. I've never seen an ad for it and now I'm a little curious. I'm mostly seeing ads for hotel chains in the U.S. (reasonable- I'm in the U.S.) and car rental. I guess they really want me to get out there with my tourist dollars. And also ads for acid reflux treatments. Those must be targeted at everybody.

They're mostly for dating sites. Oddly enough, saying "find your perfect partner in Pennsylvania".. I lived in Pennsylvania most of my life, but I don't anymore, so I don't know where it's getting that from. I'd think maybe it was reading a cookie or something, but I reformatted my computer and reloaded with XP 'cause I was freaking sick of that virus known as vista. Maybe it's a coincidence, I dunno.
There's an environmental one too.
And frequently ads for those acai scams.

I don't see any acai ads, but I get tons of acai spam email, have no idea what they are.

The ads don't say acai, 'cause everybody knows it's a scam. they usually say "1 step to a flat stomach!" or "Learn this one simple rule to lose weight now!" or "I lost 49 pounds and so can you!".. stuff like that. Then take you to a different site each time.. well, you've probably read the "trapped in acai berry hell" thread..

So did I. Perhaps we can take over this thread.

Yes, I have acid reflux sometimes. I have cut down on coffee, and I avoid chocolate and fresh cucumbers, so it's not so bad any more.

I have acid reflux. I think it's stress related, but they say it can also be because of ulcers.

I do have a bad back, but I'm not sure what an Indian Back Treatment is.

The only two adds I had seen were plenty of fish (or, as I like to read it, plenty offish) and little banners for autism (schools or true, inspirational stories). Now that I clicked on the topic though, it's asking me if I have acid reflux. Which I do, but I'm not interesting in their treatments or whatever.
