Got to echo the others here. Properly tidying up the thread would have been very hard, it would have butchered the last few pages of conversation, and it would probably have been a less satisfactory outcome for all involved. Best to chalk that up to experience.

Yep. This is what can happen when people pile on and trash a thread with off-topic material and several layers of snark and attacks.

I would suggest completely chopping off the last several pages and rescuing only the earlier parts in which it would be relatively easy to sort out the wheat from the chaff.

The earlier parts contained some very interesting and informative stuff, including relevant first-hand experience of a tax professional, that I would very much like to see again.

I say delete all posts that argue about past WP moderators and Dox's avatar he used years ago and about guns. These things is what derailed the thread because zero aspies refused to drop it and they all kept it going.

Can Magz or Walrus lock the Is Autism Genetic? thread because I didn't even start it and I don't want it to turn into a minefield.

Or delete it if you must.

Anyway.....the opinions expressed are not really controversial.

I know we're not supposed to discuss things in this thread but what the hell, anyway I don't want to close the thread because of anything to do with what you've wrote, it's just that I did not create the thread in the first place and I'm a bit pissed off about it, and it looks like it might become a minefield (not because of you).

Is  This Account  a past (banned) member's sockpuppet?  The member refers to himself by the past member's username, and seems to have started 'bumping' the thread to keep it at the top of the list.

Why not just start a new thread about Hunter Biden and the FBI?

So I need to start a new thread to discuss what Trump said about Hunter Biden in the tweet the article is about? He's saying the Hunter Biden laptop issue is why there needs to be a new election. But that's off topic? My brain is starting to bleed.
