About necromancy… I’ve been on other forums where you were asked if you really wanted to post in a thread where no one had posted since (insert date). Like we don’t overthink our posts as it is! I hope this will never be implemented here.
I don’t get why the newly resurrected threads have gotten so much negative response. It’s not against the rules, and even if the OP or anyone else quoted in the thread has left WP, it could still be helpful to current members.
No doubt there are people here who are far more comfortable with adding their voice to an already existing thread than starting a new one of their own. I think this especially holds true for those of us who don’t belong to generation “everything on net”.
The only exception would be if there was a thread that was extremely personal, but in the general and random sections, where necromancy is most common, that shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Trying to keep a low profile?

I am logged in, the bottom of the page says I can post, I get nothing from the reply button, but got through once on a quote, but not other times.

There are people on the internet who are wrong! I must reply!

Searching a users posts doesn't list the topic of posts made before the switch, it simply says "Jump to Post".

Still cannot post, after logging in twice, it saying I can post, but some quotes work. I can reply, but only to something. and it often claims I must log in, after I just did so. Still trying.

Some interesting remarks on this page on the subject of reviving old threads.

Suppose a thread has been going for several years, without a significant period of inactivity, and I quote and reply to something a poster said in the first few weeks of the discussion. Let's assume it was that poster's only contribution to the thread. Does anyone see any problem with that?

I too am surprised at the amount of negative reaction to so called 'necroposting' in general (the use of such a term is revealing in itself!). I don't think I'd be at all put out if someone still thought a post I'd made years ago was still worth discussing, quite the opposite.

I don't see any problem with that at all.

As an older member, I also think it's nice to sometimes see the names of users that haven't been around for a while pop up in a thread. But that might be down to my nostalgia.

I totally agree! If I returned to a forum and saw that someone had resurrected an ancient thread of mine or newly quoted me in an older thread, that would just be a positive thing in my book. And if someone did here, where I'm active, I would see it as a good thing. It would just be nice if something I posted mattered to someone else, even years after I made the post.

There is so much to read here I do not want to waste my time reading an opinion of a person who has long since moved on. And a vast majority of the instances I when I accidentally read a resurrected thread 95% plus of the respondents have not been active for at least a year. Hate is to strong a word, annoying is not. As ASD is a fluid topic the persons or the consensus opinion or just plain knowledge from a few years ago have changed. What about if a person 5 years from now reads my post from now that is mistaken or dated. As a historical record the opinion is mistake I have to own up to, but I would not want the reader to think the opinion is current.

Not all resurrected threads are equally annoying. A 50 page ongoing thread about a topic of general importance is kind of ok I guess I will read the first few pages to see what it is about, then skip to the end. All to often a person resurrects a thread and people end up answering answering a plea for help from a person whom who has long been gone from WP. Complete waste of time and energy. If you find the topic interesting start a new thread about the topic, and if you must resurrect thread resurrect one about the topic

I am seeing the same flaws in the new WP that we had in the old WP. Posts not showing up, pages loading sloowly, features not working...

The time window in which you are allowed to edit posts is too short. I went back to fix an incorrect link in my post after 25 minutes and the time to edit had expired.

It looks a lot nicer, but I want to either hide my gender or have choices besides male and female.

Does the new site automatically resize avatars?

I like the new forum. Was a little shocked when it first hit my eyes, but I've warmed to it now and I think it's a big improvement. I sense there are plenty of new little features that I haven't seen yet, but so far it's all good.

How long do you have to edit posts now? I posted something a few hours ago that I wanted to add something to and the only buttons available were delete and quote.

Some glitches showing up. This is what the page showed:
