Weird word combinations not allowed on WP

It was actually being caused by a modsecurity anti-spam rule, which is now disabled. Let me know if you run into any issues.

so it is still active, sliqua. I remember when I made 'ret*d' a taboo word and the general populace felt like they were being deprived of their birthrights. . .

And that takes the biscuit. Take out the single quote above, and the firewall rejects it with the now familiar "Server Error 403: Forbidden"

Do we have to plough through every single misapplication of rules - one by one?

The modsecurity firewall is supposed to be a firewall. So far as I understand it, it is not intended to act as a Apache module to prevent people posting normal messages.

Indeed, it is even blocking editing old posts, which happen to already violate any of its mad rules, such as the one that seems to insist that there should be: "no more than three BBCode general format URL links per post".

How many other jokes are present in these firewall rules?

I can mention a bestiality story. However, misspelt as "beastilality", it will be rejected by the filter.

Who writes these rules? A four-year-old would do better.

(And, as you may guess, I seem to have found the rule list being employed willy-nilly to thoroughly annoy everyone.)

Oh... and don't even suggest that this site rock's (without that sneaky apostrophe, that is), or you'll be blocked.

And should you think WrongPlanet was really helpful for under-standing Asperger's syndrome, I guess this stream of posts might be a good example of perseverance.

I guess not being able to mention an online drugstor'e would be a problem for merely 60% of WP, as elsewhere they tend to be called chemists.

We cannot say what medications we might be taking - so proza'c and valiu'm no longer exist.

what gets me is the perpetrators of this firewall are so vague as to it's implimentation and have assured us it 'has been disabled' when it is still enabled.

So, this is the future of WP?

I suppose all this is an unnatura'l enhancemen't of the filtering on WP, but I couldn't say that without both ticks.

I have taken action against the rules mentioned in this post. The modsecurity ruleset in use is used by thousands of websites and is very actively maintained.

Most websites don't have anti-spam measures already in-place to prevent people from flooding them with spam posts about Ambien, Viagra, Sex, etc. Thus, there are rules in place that handle that for them.

If you have further issues, please shoot an email to support (at) sliqua (dot) com with the page you're running into problems with - please also include a screenshot of the content you tried to post so we can investigate rather than just saying "there's a problem" as that doesn't get us anywhere.

Removing the entire set of spam filter rules means everyone can post again.

There is hardly any way a user is going to guess that a word combination (or some more obscure trigger) is not their own fault, in some way, when all they receive is a "403" error, saying that WrongPlanet has made a mistake, with a request to email Alex. Either a 406 Not Acceptable or a 418 I'm a teapot error would be more appropriate.

Asking for a screenshot (which is overkill, and many of our members have never done, or could be bothered to, or read this thread anyway) is pretty irrelevant now, as there are no rules?
