sorry, i don't mean to seem like the proverbial broken record, but i have to ask, did you reply to my posting, then erase everything between the [img]and[/img] and then paste a page url from a website with a particular picture you wish to paste? you get the picture url by right-clicking atop the desired picture, selecting "properties" from the pop-up menu, then you go the middle of the properties page and you will see the address/url or name or whatever it is called, of the picture you have selected. this address will include the url of the webpage plus the picture address info. you highlight this address by dragging your mouse from beginning to end of the address, then you right-click over the highlighted area and select "copy" or simply hit ctrl+C on your keyboard, then you go back to WP and paste by right-clicking [or just hitting ctrl+V on the keyboard] in the spot you erased in my original pic address, between the [img]and[/img].
i hope this is useful.

I'm not trying to post links, trying to post images :?

I understand, but yours will not work in that way ... and I do not know why.

Suggestion: Get a free DropBox account and upload your photos to there in "Public", then use the link you can get from the menu available at the right end of each pic's listing. In the past, I have also found there are certain links that just will not work here.

Am I just being slow or something here...I post images as follows;

[img ]Image URL[/img ] (without spaces)
I'm using Flicker to host my images.

It shows up as [img ]Image URL[/img ] (without spaces) in the post.
What am I doing wrong?

Image
above pic is a test, i did it by right-clicking atop your avatar, selecting "properties" and then highlighting the url displayed therein, right-clicking over the highlighted area to select "copy", then i just typed [img]then%20i%20pasted%20in%20the%20image%20url%20i%20copied%20from%20your%20avatar%20properties,%20then%20i%20typed[/img]. try it with my avatar.

If someone is trying to post a picture, and seeing the [img] tag show instead of the picture, it's one of two things.

1. "Disable BBCode in this post" has been checked. (Either because of accidentally clicking it, or because "Always allow BBCode" was set to know in one's profile".) (This doesn't seem to be your issue.)

2. The URL is not a valid photo URL. (This is the issue.)

Flickr does have URL's that end in .jpg or .gif

BUT, don't use the URL in "Grab the link". That gives the URL to link to the photo page. It's what you'd use to link to a photo but not have it visible in your post. It's the same as what shows in the address bar.

You have to use "Grab the HTML/BBCode". Select "BBCode", select the size you wants, copy the text in the box, and paste it in your post. It already has the IMG tag, so no need to add that. If you don't want that text under it, edit the BBCode it gives you, though Flickr does say we are supposed to link back to Flickr when posting pictures elsewhere.

I just used that yesterday on another messageboard to post some pictures. So, yes, I've used this.
