I like wp.net the way it is. I would not want to make people that have trouble with socializing, socialize. It needs to be at their free will if they are to enter here feeling unpressured.

I think the members only area is fine the way it is. This board is for us to explore ourselves and there are some fantasic and insightful discussions here that I would not like to restrict from anybody.

Jeston, I understand where you come from with the Karma idea and it would be good from some perspectives. But if I were to have to earn Karma to reach discussions that have made me go "AHA!!" and put peices together for myself from them, it would take me aaaaggggeeesss to get to where I have in just a few months.

And where is there a better place for NT's to learn who we REALLY are? It takes understanding to create acceptance. Should we leave it up to the NT's to teach other NT's about autism spectrum. It seems to me they are not doing a very good job as much as they try.
We live it though. I have gained more understanding here than anywhere else, so I hope this is so for NT's too.

I get excited when I see there are lots of visitors. To me it means more of us have found a safe haven, or NT's wanting to gain knowledge about us.

The way I see it, member-only sections are there to stop Google and other search engines from indexing and caching posts, not to stop people from accessing them. Personally, I like the open and egalitarian nature of this site, and that new members are on equal footing with old "regulars". I worry that introducing hierarchical levels of initiation will do more harm than good. For many of us it's difficult to get into a group (am I right?), so I think it's better not to create any artificial obstacles for new members.

There are other ways of doing this (using robots.txt on most servers). I would prefer to have search engines not cache ANY of the forums.

New, here, lurked first.
I think NT's looking for a freak show will look elsewhere simply because they won't understand the language spoken here...
