Can I change my handle? Or at least modify it?

Is the migration process pretty quick and easy, or is there any chance the site will end up locked in perpetuity and we'll be out of touch with our friends forever? 8O

(I trust not! I know you all are trying. :D )

^^Yes, I was wondering the same thing about the brightness/colors. It looks like too much white to me.

I do like the actual design and layout though, that part looks great.

I guess I'm one of the ol' fuddy-duddies that saw nothing wrong with the old design. it takes me a long time to get used to changes like this.

that would be incredibly simple. But I think it will be best not to do any tweaking for a while and see what the general consensus is.

While there is nothing wrong with the old design, the new design is much more streamlined and simpler and has less lines so I think it's going to actually be easier on the eyes (if not immediately, definitely once you get used to it.)

However the old code is inefficient, buggy, and is the reason the site glitches up so much and slows down and throws so many errors.

I have a question, does the site take longer to load than the current one? I sometimes use dialup internet.

It should be much faster.

I could tell it will be just from the cleaner look it will have. Will also dump all the annoying side adds I constantly see, that would be a huge speed booster, or is that how you make the $$ need to keep the site going.

Unfortunately they're required due to the high cost of a site with this much traffic.

We're going to have to lock the forums while the migration takes place. But the entire site is being revamped to the new version that you may have heard about!!

Well I'm jazzed at the idea of being able to write articles for the front page, I founded an AS group in the Seattle Area that's been going six years now, and I have a lot of advice for the Aspie looking to start a group, what to do and what not to do kind of stuff, stories of my own experiences, etc.

Well, if something goes wrong with the new version during or after the migration we can just fall back to the old version until we fix the problem.

So we're going to get less of those errors that pop up when posting?
"Could not obtain topic watch information" and all that?

That's would be very nice. I am so sick of those!

How long will the forums be down? Will the website address be the same or different?

address will stay the same. the site will ideally be accessible but not editable during the process. it shouldn't be too long for this to complete.

That's good to know. So this is like moving into a new building and taking everything with you.

Not editable? So, we couldn't post during that time and we'll have to keep an eye on it to know when it will be finished?
