Is it an anti-bot measure?

Captcha's aren't really a problem, just a minor annoyance which helps to mitigate the amount of bot/spam posts.

what is a problem though is that 9/10 times when i get a captcha, my post just 'disappears', i get rederected back to the posting page, with an empty text field (or the quoted text i wanted to use, if any).
I have been copying my posts to the clipboard before posting nowadays, but i often forget; i lost 3 posts only today...

I was gone for a couple weeks visiting family & now I'm back home & I'm having to enter em sometimes too which annoys me.

I just got the best one ever... A blurry street sign that said "ASS".

(Sorry if that language is inappropriate - but to allow it on CAPTCHA and not here would be a double standard!)

^that's fine.

for chrome users, i recommend the "lazarus" extension with helping revert PM/post loss.

I was beginning to think it was waiting for me to write a long post before doing this to me, just so I would have to retype it all.

But yes, I'm randomly (?) getting it too.

If this BS keeps up, I'm not using this site as often as I did before (and I ask for serious relationship advice on the Love and Dating forum).

You need to fill out a CAPTCHA form to register, anyway, why do it for posts.

it's an anti person‐with‐less‐than‐saintly‐patience measure.

I do not bother previewing my posts anymore due to capthca interruptions often multiple times, I just submit. I have enough communication issues IRL, only go to a support site for people with communication issues that is throwing obstacles in the way of my communicating.

It's all very well having these CAPTCHA things to stop the bots, but it's not actually stopping the bots, is it? The GAD is full of spam by bots again, just like it is every week.

There are some items from within the WP forums that the CAPTCHA won't let through no matter how many times one submits them. Earlier today I composed a seven-line post which contained a link to an old WP thread (which had highly contentious subject matter). I tried resubmitting the post about 15 times, but on each occasion was sent back to the reply box, with the post wiped out of course (though I'd made a copy). When the link was taken out, the post went through first time without any intervention from the CAPTCHA.

In some respects this device is fiendishly smart (knowing the content of a thread simply by scanning the link), but in other ways it's utterly inept and detrimental. I wonder whether significant numbers of members are becoming disheartened or indeed have left because of this.

Whenever I face that Captcha,
I push backward button(you will see your original post is still alive there) ---> copy the post (in case that Captcha blows away what you wrote)---> submit ---> do what Captcha orders you to do.

In this way, I at least, avoid losing my post by this Captcha Crap.

They're annoying, aren't they? I've picked up on that trick as well.

I got one just posting this!
