I wonder if the spammers are so stupid that they think someone will buy their crap and that their spams won't be taken down.

There is something that could be done to limit the effect of the spammers:
1) permit any new poster to only post 3 or 4 messages per day and
2) limit new accounts from the same address or from the same address block.

The Captcha's from Hell don't seem to be working against the latest spammer.

i assume it's because they activate most often (from what i gather) when quoting another member and when posting in an existing thread. these spammers do neither.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about it like that.

It has been slow this week. Must be the holiday season. Hopefully everybody will be back soon.

Well, I think it's pretty understandable that people spend their holidays with their family. I sure have prioritized my family these days and will for the remainder holidays as well. I like this time of year! Family, tasty food, playing games, lots of animated movies on TV, everyone is home and free. I wish it lasted longer...

Perhaps it is the irritating glitches in part as well. I nearly stopped coming back a few times due to the glitches…but I beat them, lol. I just posted how I beat them in that captcha thread, and I’ll share here also in case someone sees this thread but doesn’t visit the captcha thread….anything to help ;) :

It’s not the captchas that bother me. It’s the glitch in the captcha process, whereas even when you answer the captcha correctly, it still will delete the post you just typed up, and send u back to the quote to which you were trying to respond. Then you have to retype it all over again. Ugh.
So I have started opening up a blank word doc and typing my response there, and then copy/pasting to the quote. That way if it gets deleted, I can simply copy/paste again.
This also prevents that ever so frustrating deal where you are typing, and it keeps timing out you. I hope that helps someone 

^ Not sure what the 'blank word doc' is, but I just find the 'Ctrl C' saving method suffices. I have tried the 'Save Draft' option below the posting box, but the Captcha can wipe this out as well. Problem is that with some messages occasionally, the Captcha rejects them indefinitely, no matter how often one resubmits them.

I've found when that happens to ctrl-c (copy to clipboard) the message and then return to the forum/topic and click "reply" then paste it all in. Haven't had that fail yet, anyway...

Glad to hear that you're staying here with us, Kyle! :D

The first days after new years have been rather active in GAD especially. That's very nice to see :)

No, I'm not! Spammers aren't welcome at all, regardless of how active they are

I know :( . I keep looking at the GAD forum and all I find is the same threads, nothing new. The only new threads are threads like ''do I have Asperger's?'' or, ''my doctor/therapist has suspicions I have Asperger's'' or, ''I have gut problems'', or, ''found a new cure for Autism: have a pet rabbit!''

Just gets boring.
