Yeah, they are all back today, and all bumped by one person as you said. Oh well.

I don't get the appeal of counting threads myself, and I'd actually like to have an option to filter them whenever I click "View Posts Since Last Visit". Maybe they could be moved to their own section to make things easier.

It's always annoyed me, I don't understand why spam threads are counted to post count and show up in new posts. If you're into that more power to you but if you're not it is just taking up space making it harder to find relevant threads.

I love to count...but the counting threads didn't do my obsessive and repetitive behaviour any favours.

I tend to steer clear of them.

More than anything, the counting threads shows the Aspie aspect of WrongPlanet.

I also think megathreads and games on random discussion should be separated. Some of the stuff I post probably should be on the random discussion forum, but I always get drowned out by megathreads.

How would you define a "megathread"?

Threads that have around 40 pages. They also tend to ask questions like "how are you doing today?" or "got anything random to say?". It would be nice to have a subforum where people can just chat about random stuff that won't get clogged with megathreads.

Oh ok, so they're like the various "general" threads on 4chan. Yes, in that case, I think they could definitely use their own section.

No.

The counting threads are threads like any other. People who frequently post in them, may have no other means to communicate (I am not saying all of them lack communication skills). Seeing their current post count increase by one, as well as seeing the count -- whatever it is defined to be -- do its job, may be the best moment in their day.

See how easily discrimination creeps in? In an autism forum, I hate the idea that extreme autistic behavior should be limited.

Keep counting. It is no sin.

I'd like to add that repetitive behavior acts like the guardian angel for many of us. What would be extremely wrong, would be to demote this counting thing to some sort of 3rd class behaviour.

I am pretty sure great minds like Martin L. King, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi and Mohandas Gandhi would have supported the right of those threads to stay the way they are -- had they heard about this great site and these forums.

I admit that the last paragraph above was a little emotional but I see red whenever someone's rights (be them human or animal) are trampled on.

One thing I have suggested is that the Games forum be split with the active counting threads being put into a separate sub-forum.

A lot of those 'megathreads' are the places where people actually do chat to each other about random stuff.
Especially the 'Got anything random to say' thread.
That is the Claytons chat room of RD.

Every time a counting thread appears on 'view posts since last visit', jesus kills a kitten.

Please provide the means to hide them.

They take up entire pages...

Give us some feedback here or I will release the flying monkeys.
