There is a neat thing about having grown up with your Dad in the USN, acronyms are normal.
True, I do not automatically know what any given one might mean, but they are not uncomfortable for me and it is a bit of a game to research (usually via Googling them) the ones I do not know.

Just for fun a few samples from when Dad was in the USN,
COMCRUDESFLOT 2
UNREP
ASROC
SNEP-FIT

And then I remember my 7th grade science teacher when one day she said, "Will you please stop inventing acronyms in your homework, I get what they mean, but please write normally". :lol:

AFAIK = As Far As I Know.
related - IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.
related - AIUI = As I Understand It = what follows isn't a certainty, a definite understanding.
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary = you may find (whatever it is) doesn't give the same results.

Mine were patchy at best and have now stopped entirely.

I find it amusing how "lol" can have two completely different meanings.

Daughter - "Mum, I broke my neck and I might be paralyzed for life"

Mum - "Oh god, I didn't realise the accident was that bad. We'll all be at the hospital now lol"

Anyway. I hope I'm right in assuming the notification problem isn't related to the recent intrusion.

I've never requested alerts or notifications on anything.
I just stumble around here quite blindly, hoping for the best.

That's why I might fail to reply to things sometimes.
I wouldn't know how to set up alerts anyway.

Did people get email notifications when the problem happened?
