When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

You all must have magic computers then. It's not just flashing ads that are annoying and distracting, it's the ones that have constantly moving text. The motion makes me nauseous. At least I can turn off the animated gifs easily.

I'm surfing on a mobile, using operamini browser. I don't see any ads at all. Zero, Zip, Zilch. Am I missing out on once in a lifetime, never to be repeated offers? And I don't watch TV, and only listen to PBS radio... is there anything I should be buying?

I hate them. I used to be able to scroll past them but now they are every where. Please give them a bullet.

Thanks

Really? You're going to necro a thread from 2007?

I get flashing adds, they really bother me. I think its thoughtless for a site for people with neurological problems to allow flashing ads.

What are the ads for? When I see those ads myself I block them immediately. It's harder when theyre only displaying for other people

I get a range of spammy things, like the current one is "I make $260 every day" (an ad for some work from home scheme) with the $260 large and flashing between red and white and "see how" flashing between black and red at the bottom. The other flashing ads are generally along those lines.

I can't filter out background visuals (or other background sensory input for that matter) so flashing ads are very annoying. I will try and figure out how to block them on my web browser, but lately I have been overwhelmed with things that have to be done and come onto WP to chill out/vent/socialise a bit and haven't had the energy to figure out that one. It would be great if something could be done to prevent flashing ads.

It seems like a large number of the ads directed at WP involving flashing or animation. I remember one when I first joined that showed a young boy jumping up and down that was an ad for an ADHD medication.

Extremely distracting, at any rate. I had to block them just to be able to read the forum.
